OnBodyAI brings AI into your daily life by living on your body
OnBodyAI - Why the Next AI Needs a Body
Human-Computer InteractionArtificial IntelligenceGeneral Literature
Summary
Most AI today works by knowing a lot about the world, but this paper argues the next big step is AI that knows you personally by living on your body. The authors call this idea OnBodyAI, where AI models like large language models gain a physical presence on your person. This would let AI better serve and respond to you by directly interacting and understanding your body and context. The paper discusses what research and industry need to do to make this happen.
What this means in practice
- •For wearable device developers: Design AI-enhanced wearables that interact continuously with users' bodies for more personalized assistance.$Commercial implications: Enables creation of AI-driven wearable products that provide personalized support and improve daily user interactions.
- •For mobile health app teams: Integrate OnBodyAI concepts to offer more responsive health monitoring and feedback based on continuous body data.
A position paper. It proposes an approach and reports no results.

Abstract
The next AI will not win by knowing more about the world. It will win because it knows you: because it lives on your body, works for you and answers to you. That is what the term OnBodyAI stands for. It describes what happens when large language models are given a body, and what research and industry need to make that happen. This article is based on my talk in the Industrial Panel at UbiComp/ISWC 2026 in Shanghai (October 13, 2026) and follows its ten key statements.
